Match was Abandoned after 30 overs

Match report D&C made the trip to Peebles - hoping to get in a game of cricket. With the prospect of some showers the smart captains decided to reduce the game to 30 overs per side.

D&C again fielded a very youthful lineup. With 5 under 18's.

Spreng and Wood opened the batting - but Wood succummed to an excellent first delivery for 0 bowled.

Miller joined Spreng and both batted solidly building a good base before Spreng hit the ball to a fielder called for a run and left Miller stranded run out for 26. Spreng then got caught by a great catch by Walker of the bowling of Common for 18.

Youngsters John Hutton and Wajahat Faisal were now at the crease. with around 13 overs to go.
The rain started to fall - and with D&C looking to increase the run rate John was bolwed by Eggington for 7.

After that ball the rain got so heavy we seeked shelter. We then decided to have tea - and then it dried up.

We continued to bat the final 10 overs Murray joining Waj in the middle. The pair put on a 70ish partnership in the final 10 overs with Murray reaching 50 NO and Waj 25 NO - great knocks by both.
The rain had however came back on in this timeframe and although Peebles fielded for a long period in the rain - despite the dry forecast the rain was looking like it was here to stay.

We gave it 15 minutes - to see what the weather would do - but the rain was relentless and the match abandoned which was unfortunate as 147 seemed an excellent score from the 30 overs considering the slow outfield etc.

Anyway it wasnt to be - thanks to Peebles for trying their very best to make a go of getting a game in - it was one of those days it just wasnt to be - and if it werent for the fact we were playing on Astro we would never have even managed to 30 overs.

Next up final game of the season at home to Edinburgh Uni Staff.
