Heriots 3 v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 12 May 2018 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report D&C were again missing a couple of players for the game at Goldenacre.

D&C won the toss and elected to bat.

Things got off to the worst possible start with Honeyford Snr being bowled first ball.

Heriots tied down Dunfermline and claimed had D&C struggling with 4 down for not very many.
Bruce bowled for 4 Miller LBW for 3 and Jones Caught for 4.

Coles and Murray Callan came to the crease to put up some resistance. Coles shut up shop at one end while Murray managed to get out the duck pond quickly and then started taking the attack to the bowlers.

The pair put on a partnership of 30 before Coles went for 0. But a worthy partnership none the less.

Cooper came in and dug in with Callan. And took us to drinks - with us making a good recovery from a poor start.

Unfortunately drinks proved to be Coopers downfall with him being bolwed next ball for 8. A partnership of 29.

Callan was joined by McInnes - who frustrated the bowler so much he started to bounce him.

Callan then struck his 50 - then proceeded to get out a couple of balls later going for a big hit caught at Mid on for 52.

Khan was bolwed by Turner for 3. McInnes then was caught by Butt of Turner for 10.

James Honeyford "wasnt sure" if he nicked his first ball to the keeper - His Dad umpiring gave him the benefit of the doubt - but he was then bowled by Agarwal for 1. Goody left stranded 3 Not Out.

This was a poor batting display on a decent enough track. Muzz did well to save our blushes - but again got out when he looked set to make a big score. Matt Jones injured himself while running which ultimately led to his wicket when he was agony.

The highlight of the innings was Murray hitting a big no ball 6....and Coops rubbing horse liniment down Matt Jones thigh!!

Tea was had.

D&C opened the bowling with the Honeyfords.
Martin beat the bat multple times in the first over - as did James in the second.

Arumugam started to play aggressive and rode his luck with shots in the air.

James Honeyford then snatched the wicket of Kurra caught at Midon by McInnes for 9. Honeyford then had Arumugam dropped by Coops - but to be fair it wasnt the easiest of catches.

Bruce was brought into the attack with Sazz. Bruce couldnt get a rhythm going so was replaced by McInnes - Sazz bowled tightly and got Podugu caught at MidOn by McInnes for 11. McInnes then took the wicket of Agarwal for 10 caught Bruce Callan.
Sazz then took Arumugams wicket when he skied one to Miller who took the catch.

A couple of other chances went abegging - one dropped by Murray C and one right through Coles at Gully.

Chris Sale then reversed sweeped/hit Coopers first ball for 4. Then he saw them through to 106 for the loss of only 4 wickets.

This was a disappointing result. Bowling/fielding wise everything was positive - although we need to stop giving away cheap runs. 12 wides in total. But one loose ball an over is too many loose balls per over.

Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 18 of 8 overs.

We really need to dig in a bit better with the batting. The key needs to be batting the 40 overs....we may be lacking someone that can get that big score at the moment - but we have plenty who should be getting at least 20-30 runs per match which should see the side to a bigger score.

Hopefully people will come to training to work on there batting - and perhaps a reshuffle of the order is required.

Hopefully of greater things when we face Watsonians 3's next weekend.
