Leith FAB v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 26 Aug 2017 at 13:00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Won 6 wickets

Match report D&C finished the season on a high with an emphatic victory over Leith by 6 wickets.

Winning the toss on a lovely damp Leith track Dunfermline & C elected to bowl first.

Callan and Hutton opened and didn't get any rhythm going as the openers for Leith made steady progress.

Miller rung the changes and first brought Honeyford into the attack and then Petrie for his first game of the season.

They immediately put on the brakes and put the Leith batsman under pressre.

Petrie in his second over had Sandarum caught at short cover in a reaction catch by Spreng (his first of the season). Sundarum Leiths third top run scorer for the season out for 13.
Couple of balls later Leith's top run scorer for the season was caught by an even better catch at short cover by Spreng again of the bowling of Petrie for 0.

Leith spent a couple of overs recovering - but then lost their 4th top run scorer for the season Patel C&B by Honeyford for 4. In the same over Honeyford got Lekhwar caught behind by Goody for 17.

Donald Petries next over then the wicket of Khan for 1 caught at 2nd slip to Miller.

Then Shah - Leiths second top run scorer for the season was yorked for 0 by Petrie.

Honeyford then got smacked for 3 sixes in two overs before getting Hadi caught for 18 by Leroy Elliot at Midwicket. Petrie then bolwed Vazirani for 0.

Cooper then cleared up the tail taking 2 wickets.

Leith bowled out for 83.

Excellent bowling and catching performance (apart from 1 drop by Goody/Howis and 1 by Miller)

The performance in the field was good Petrie 5 for 5 outstanding in his first match in over a year.

Batting however was never going to be easy on a track that now resembled the tee of a golf course.

Honeyford and Spreng started off and made steady but slow progress before Honeyford was caught behind for 5 of the bowling of Lawson in the 5th over.

Callan came in to join Spreng.

They ticked along til the 9th over when Spreng was caught at slip of Lawson.

Bryan Keenan then joined Callen an took the score to 36 before Bruce was bowled by Khan for a hard worked 14.

Howis eager to get away showed his intent early on smacking a 6 of his second ball.

The score jogged up to 50 when Bryan was given LBW to Vazarani for a well worked 11.

Miller then joined Howis and the pair made steady progress towards the target with Miller hitting the winning boundary in the 26th over.

A great finish to a season which started in turmoil with resignations galore - but has finished on a high with 3 wins in 4 and the twos getting good young squads out to complete the fixtures.

Lots of promise to build on for 2018 season.
