Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 188 runs

Match report D&C travelled to Hawick with 10 men due to a number of members being on holiday - we were fortunate John Hutton managed to talk his friend Logan into playing who had never played before to take us to that 10.

Any points won out of todays game were to be seen as a bonus as if we had conceded which had been thought about we would have ended up with none.

We won the toss and chose to field.

Matt Howis took over the reigns of captain for the day.
We got off to a woeful start - Mushy and Mushy and Matt opended the bowling - Mush bowled relatively tightly but Matt's first over got Hawick off to a flyer.

Matt took himself and Mush off after 2 overs each and brought on Coles and Inzi who both went for lots of runs.

At 10 overs Hawick were sitting at 100 for 0!!

John Hutton came on to bowl and bowled a firey spell giving the batsman some food for thought - even hitting one on the helmet.

James Spreng almost got the first wicket - when the ball spilled up to Matt Howis at square leg but it was dropped.

The first wicket finally came when Howis in his second spell bowled R Alexander for 57. 134 for 1.

S Hair came in and started tonking the ball around the park.

Bowlers were changed ofter to try and make a breakthrough.

Miller came on - and in his first over should have had Hair out - Spreng dropping it in the deep as he skied it like a 9 iron.
Unfortunately Hair swinging at everything went on to add a few 6's and 4's after that before he finally got bowled by Miller.

Score 236 for 2. Mushy then picked up 2 wickets and Hutton 1.

The biggest cheer of the day was Inzi finally cathing a ball after about 3 seasons.....a dolly at square leg!

Hawick ended the innings with 276.
Dunfermline & Carnegie 3 bowling points....

Batting Mushy and James opened.
Mushy got out skying a bouncer up in the air with the tennis ball bounce for 10.

Spreng after doing some ducking and diving and falling on his bum - (Yoga per Matt Howis) finally got out caught in the covers lobbing the ball up for 10.

Oh in between that in form Saleem edged his first ball for 0.

Howis came in had a few swings a few connections and went for 9.

Goody joined Miller for a while before Miller missed an inswinging full toss for 22.

Coles faced 2 balls - off the mark for 2 the first then out the next.

John Hutton walked in and out getting bowled for 0.

Alistair batted well with Goody hanging around a long time. Goody smacked some boundaries - before running Alister out for 3.

Logan in his first ever game scored 2 before being caught by the bowler.

All out for 88. 1 batting point.

So all in all - a bit of a hammering but we went we fought we had a good day out - and with the side we pulled together gave it a shot.

4 points better than 0 points - and hopefully their will be more players available next week for the visit to play Grange.
