Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 2nd XI v Dunfermline Wanderers on Sun 24 Apr 2016 at 1.00pn
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost 186 runs
Match report
Match report stolen from the Wanderers FB Page - Im sure they wont mind. Not pretty reading for the twos unfortunately - only can improve from here.
Late April, a sunny Sunday it can only mean one thing….….cricket!!!
The Wanderers emerged from hibernation with a mix of familiar and fresh faces to kick off 2016 with a friendly at their new home for the season, McKane Park.
Hosts, Dunfermline & Carnegie, were the opposition and a (mostly) warm and sunny day greeted the teams.
The toss gave the Wanderers first use of a surprisingly dry strip and Sandhu (broken thumb, no gloves, unsure emoticon!!!!) and Steve (nothing broken for a change) took top billing in the batting parade.
After an initial boundary, a deceptive second bounce yorker did for Steve as the umpire sent him on his way, lbw.
Sandhu playing in his usual entertaining fashion raced to 17 but then missed one enroute for the timber, 35/2 off 8.
This brought together Matthew "Biffa" Boyd (just made that up :-)) and David "Super" Cooper (registered nickname) and they set about their business with enthusiasm. 4's and 6's flowed and the next 10 overs saw 113 runs added to the score. Both rushed to their 50's with the helping hand of a few dropped catches.
The fun continued until the 23rd over when Super Coops fell for his maiden half century (59) with the score on 180, a partnership of 146.
The excitement wasn't over yet as Matt pushed on to his century (101) before retiring - great effort Matt, anytime you're available!!!!
Pastors Jim (28) and Rory Mendez (17) kept things rumbling along and after Jim fell, new man Safi launched one over the rope to help send the Wanderers total to a mighty 236.
A splendid tea, including an awesome sponge cake, set everyone up for the second half. And with Jim having to head for the airport another debutant Aidan stepped up to take his place.
Sandhu and Acacio took the new ball and the wickets of the young host team soon began to fall.
With Sean shuffling the bowling of Sandhu, Acacio, Matt, Rory, David, Safi, Sean and even Steve smile emoticon the innings closed on a total of 50.
