Match report Out “f**king” Standing…..

Those were my initial thoughts and still I can’t find anything else to say it better, the sheer joy felt by everyone on Saturday was just brilliant.

When you think that I lost the toss, started the game with 6 & were 11-4 off of the first five overs, it makes the result all the more amazing, all I could think at this time was god help us all if we are all out before Pike gets here, otherwise we’d all need to hide under the covers to avoid the wrath of said club stalwart.
After what was probably the best opening pair of bowlers we have faced all season, we managed to regroup and rebuild the innings from the rather disastrous start with vital contributions from young Callum, Sazz, Pike and Simon to give us something to defend. With Rain at tea we were hardly desperate to get back out there and we took our time to fully enjoy the delights of a Walley tea!
On a damp outfield we looked to see what we could do, young Chris and pike opened the bowling, Kev doing his best to impress Chris took a good catch off what was a bit of a pie delivery we started well. Pike then took a sharp caught and bowled to give us a sniff.
The skipper just got his fingertips to a sharp chance at 1st slip off of Pike, but this didn’t cost us too much, Kev then stepped up with Pike to grab the win. Kev took 4 catches, one an absolute worldy (Google Dwayne Leverlock if you are interested) And Pike got his first ever 5 for, he would have had 7 if it wasn’t for me and Goodie, although Goodie’s was a dolly in comparison to my snap chance!
As the wickets fell, the spirit and momentum grew, completely encapsulated by the team selfie in the dressing room, it was probably my favourite game to be involved in in recent years, the kids loved it, which is ultimately the main reason we run this second team.
So Callum, Cammy, Diet Pike, Chris, Sazz, JP, Simon, Kev, Goodie & Pike take a bow for a brilliant Saturday, thank you all

P.S. I think the return of Kev Ross has given the team a huge boost & as long as we maintain our child protection officer at the club, we should be fine!
