Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 2nd XI v Broomhall 2 on Sat 07 May 2016 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Won 10 runs
Match report
Super two’s win (Red sox win!!)
A hugely encouraging team performance from the twos on Saturday saw the first win of the season secured.
The win saw every member of the team contribute, so the win is because of everyone, which as a captain is all you can ask for.
After losing the toss again we were put into bat and we got off to a spritely start with Daughtrey leading the way ably assisted by Honeyford, however as quickly as we scored runs, we seemed to lose wickets.
More runs for Spreng and Hill pushed the score on, but we got to 4 down before the drinks break, so we needed to slow things down to ensure we batted the overs.
Leitch & Khan proceeded to rebuild and give the side the platform to push on towards the end of the match.
Khan took on the mantle of pushing the score along, most ably assisted by Lee when he appeared at the crease.
So collectively we posted 174 all out, only missing out on batting the full 40 by a hand full of balls.
Broomhall took a novel approach to batting in only trying to score in boundaries, so some tidy bowling from Khan, Hill & Honeyford kept them in check and the game in the balance.
Despite not taking wickets we remained in the game and as we moved to the business end of the game the pressure began to tell on Broomhall, wickets falling to excellent bowling, fielding & catching from Dunf & Carnegie.
So 25 was needed off of the last four overs and Honeyford and man of the match Coles saw Dunf & Carnegie home to their first win of the season, a magnificent team effort and a thoroughly enjoyable game, played in good spirits. We look forward to the return match later in the season.
