Tranent v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 02 Jul 2016 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost 69 runs
Match report
Dunfermline and Carnegie looked to get back to winning ways fresh from hearing that the decision from the Edinburgh CC game had amazingly been awarded to Edinburgh CC.
Prior to an appeal we needed to concentrate on getting back to winning ways - but top of the league Tranent were the opponents today - so this was going to be a tough ask.
Dunfermline won the toss and opted to field.
Sullivan and Bruce Callan opened the bowling Callan picking up a couple of wickets and Sullivan bowling extremely tightly.
Don Petrie and Mike Busby were then brought into the attack and Don received as usual no rewards from the astro. While Mike picked up a couple of scraps.
Struggling for bowlers this week Scott Gardiner and Gareth Coles were brought into the attack. Gareth had a disastrous first over going for 17 runs while Scott's first over was about 17 balls long.
Gareth did pick up a crucial wicket - and finished with 2 wickets.
Tranent who had initially been contained ended up scoring 207 for 6.
Dunfermline opened with Sullivan and Miller and got off to a decent start before the rain intervened.
Then when play recommenced the wet outfield along with poor communication from Miller led to Sullivan being run out.
Murray Callan came in and smacked the ball around before being the victim of another run out.
Spreng went first ball. Miller went shortly after. Gardiner went first ball and then Bruce Callan, Rich Barclay and Jamie Lee restoring some pride in the innings with Busby also falling.
Dunfermline & Carnegie ended up 69 runs short on 138 for 8.
Dunfermline and Carnegie should never have been chasing 150 let alone 200. With Poor fielding including multiple drop catches.
Dunfermline & Carnegie now must win every game to have an outside chance of promotion while hope justice is done in the appeal against Edinburgh.
