Freuchie 2 v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 07 May 2016 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 131 runs

Match report The Mushy Beg Show.....

D&C welcomed back lost skipper Wayne Sullivan who made his debut after messing up his return the previous week.

Wayne won the toss and opted to bat on one of the best batting surfaces you would ever get....adding to that the small boundaries a score of over 200 was a must.

Wayne set out the game plan and went out to open with himself and Mushy Beg.

Wayne was flying along supported by Mushy before the lightweight Aussie had to retire hurt on 47 runs.

This allowed Mike Busby in to enjoy the batting track - and he settled nicely. Mike was commenting while watching Mushy prior to batting about how wristy Mushy was and that he couldnt play some of the flicks down leg side. Mike then went out to bat and played all shots he apparently couldn't play before.

Mush by now was in full flow and the ball was flying out of the ground on regular occassions.

Freuchie were streched for players and only started the game with 8 before 3 others turned up. Some 13 year old kids. They bowled well - but were no match for the Dunfermline batters.

One 13 year old did manage to clean up Mike Busby - clean bowled for an excellent 42 runs.

Fifteen year old birthday boy John Hutton was next into bat - and did well knocking up 15 not out. Mushy ended up 164 not out at the end of 40 overs.

An excellent batting performance by all.

Dunfermline and Carnegie couldnt take things for granted though and needed to battle to win the game.

Freuchies openers put up a strong fight with L Duncan scoring a quickfire 85 helped by some poor bowling. A Duncan scored 25. Both were dismissed by Donald Petrie.

John Hutton bowled well picked up 1 scalp - Billy the tightest of all bowlers 2 wickets for 13 runs, Scott Gardner 2 wickets and poor Bruce didnt get any wickets.

The opposition were restricted to 156 for 8 in their 40 overs.

Pick of the bowlers were Mathew Howis, Billy Strange and John Hutton.

This was a resounding win - but an expected win - there will be tougher oppositions to face this season. If we bowl like we did in this match we may find ourself's struggling to contain the runs. The length being bowled was generally far too short.
Batting wise we didnt do anything wrong however it was an excellent track where you could only really get yourself out.
Fielding - could be improved - only 2 drop catches - in 2 consecutive balls - Scott Gardner could have had a hattrick had Mike Busby held the two catches in slip.

Two other fielding mishaps to mention - were Donald Petries drop catch on the boundary - and Bruce Callens roll over the ball on the boundary - just when it seemed he had easily saved a boundary he tripped and rolled over the ball allowing it to go for 4.

Any a great win - but still plenty of room for improvement.
