Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs
Match report
First game of the season the sun shining but a chill in the air. Captain NIall walker won the toss and put the oposition into bat, H shazhad and G phillips opened the bowling and looked dangerous Shazha got the break through with a plum LBW. Great fielding from our youngsters kept the score down to 112 for 7. Young chris hill chipped in with 2 wickets and our own J honeyford getting in on the action with a wicket. Ally cameron made a great come back getting 2 wickets when really needed. Another carnegie ledgend G phillips made an impact with some tight bowling under severe pressure
So 113 to win and we started of steady with G phillips and H shazad opening the batting, gordon it must be said was given out LBW (harsh decision)and had to make the long walk to the duck pond. Hassan went on a scoring spree and hit a lovely 23 before being bowled by a fast inswinging delivery.Wickets fell at a steady pace there after JP bowled for 6 ,Connor lee edwards stumped only because we had not told him about staying in his crease happy days and the duck pond for him. A few more runs were added to the score but we were runninig out of batsmen by the time D walley(the don) came into bat with youg J honeyford at the other end, you could see the steel and determination in both thier eyes as they set to steadying the ship and trying to win the the game. D walley swiftly took charge and made headway with quick runs ably helped at the other end by the youngster J honeyford. Runs were quickly scored young honeyford getting a couple with The don getting an unbeaten 20 before running out of partners. Great day for all especially the younger members of the team and although it was a defeat the game was played in great spirit by both teams
We all headed back to the bar where we partook in the best teas in the league.
