Leith FAB v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 30 May 2015 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost 6 wickets
Match report
Dunfermline and Carnegie headed to Edinburgh with another depleted line up to face bottom of the league Leith.
Carnegie lost the toss - and on a challenging wicket it was always going to be a tough task to set a commanding score and so it proved.
Rich Barclay stoned cold not sober from a night out before was first out for 1 bowled by Shah. Honeyford was looking solid and was joined by Harry Harris.
Honeyford was bowled by a waste high full toss and walking off before being reinstated by the no ball call.
Harris was then given LBW Khan for 3.
In form Daughtrey joined Martin as the recovery began before Honeyford tickled one toe Ingram of the bowling of Ali for 12.
Miller joined Daughtrey - got off the mark first ball with 2 then was bowled 3rd ball for 2.
Patrick Mahoney on debut went out and flashed a couple of fours before going for 9.
Khan joined his mentor Daughtrey and looked solid.
Barney was then bizarely stumped not paying attention when he thought the ball may have been dead for a solid looking 23.
Howis got of the mark with a 4 through the hands of fine leg - would have been a great catch - Howis was then caught of the bowling of Ali.
Brian Brown faced one ball - tried to run two byes but a direct hit saw the end of Brian for 0.
Khan then fell Lbw to Shah for 13 before Leroy Elliot on debut was bowled for a 2 ball duck.
Usman closed up 14 not out as Dunfermline and Carnegie were 97 all out.
Into the field Dunfermline and carnegie attacked - with Howis and Saleem opening the bowling.
The openers were scoring quickly but not convincingly. Saleem struck first getting Thekumpurath caught at fine leg of a ball that popped up towards the batsmans head.
Ali came in and survived a couple of close shaves. He was very fortunate when Howis had a good LBW appeal. The batsman chose to pad up to a straight ball that appeared to be hitting off stump however the umpire gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Saleem then dropped Dicks of the bowling of Honeyford with a great bit of juggling before he lobbed the ball towards Barney near the stumps. Inzi later said Barney should have caught it......
Khan took 3 wickets in a good spell - however this wasnt enough.
Ali had done the damage - with a quickfire 59.
With just a couple of runs required Harris bowled one ball which was knocked out the park for 6.
All in all a poor day for Dunfermline and Carnegie cricket club.
However on a positive note Phil Daughtrey is continuing to grow in confidence with the bat - and Sazz Khan looking good with the ball.
Man of the Match awarded to Sazz Khan for his 3 wickets and 13 runs, which Thanks for coming was awarded perhaps unfairly by Sazz to Brian Brown - for his chuckle brother esk run out.
Fingers crossed Carnegie can get a strong side out next week for the visit of Haddington in a must win game.
Although everyone was down after the game - the perils of not being able to put out a first choice side every week will mean there will be winning weeks and losing weeks - and this was unfortunately a losing week. But there will be many winning weeks to come this season as the side settles.
