Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI v Selkirk on Sat 23 May 2015 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Lost 6 wickets
Match report
Not a good day at the office for Dunfermline and Carnegie CC.
A few call offs meant we were lacking strength and depth in the squad for the match against Selkirk.
On a lovely day - the wicket was looking hard but mossy.
Selkirk won the toss - and chose to field.
From there on in the game was Selkirks - with Martin Honeyford and Neil Harris to a degree only showing any resistance with the bat.
Honeyford carried his bat for 30 overs scoring 43 - while Harris was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 14.
There were 6 ducks in the Dunfermline innings.
into the field Beg and Gav Ross opened the bowling Gavs over despite being rapid attracted some full bloody shots with double figures coming off it - not the ideal start.
In fact it was looking like a 10 wicket win for Selkirk until Martin Honeyford bolwed a juicy full toss to Everitt who smacked it straight into the hands of Callan at Cover for a well taken catch.
Martin then trapped Graham LBW next ball for 0. Hattrick ball was successfully seen off by Banks.
But then Banks was trapped LBW by Brian Brown bowling at the other end.
Brian then clean bowled Reid for 0.
Paterson came in and smacked a winning 4.
Not very often there are 8 ducks in a game - 6 in Dunfermlines side.
The wicket to be honest wasnt ideal to bat on - the slower the bowling the more movement it seemed to have - which suited the Selkirk attack.
Honeyford and Brown also found it useful.
Dunfermline did drop two catches in the first two overs - which if these had been held may have given them fresh hope. Jamie Lee dropped the not out Fenton in Beg's first over at Gully - as the ball sped off his fingers. While Martin Honeyford dropped his second catch of the season of Everitt from the bowling of Gavin Ross in his first over.
At the end of the day - poor batting cost us the game. Another 20 to 30 runs would have made the game very interesting on a competitive wicket.
