Boroughmuir v Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 16 May 2015 at 13.00
Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 79 runs
Match report
Dunf & Carnegie won the toss and batted on a very uneven green looking surface.
Honeyford and Leitch took to the middle - and hung around a while before Martin too busy watching the trains going by edged a catch to the keeper to add to his duck pond entries.
Skipper Miller joined Leitch and got of the mark first ball with a glide for 2.
Leitch was struggling at the other end with the uneven bounce - some were rolling and others going through at chest height.
Finally Leitch succumbed to a roller which bowled him for 7.
Callan joined Miller in the middle.
Miller was then out when the ball popped up and he laid up an easy caught and bowled chance.
About 30 on the board and 3 wickets down - not a great start.
Philip Daughtrey and Callan started the recovery.
Callan went for 26 Caught of the bowling of Mehmood - a fine knock - but by Murrays standards the ball wasnt coming quite out of the middle of the bat.
Usman Saleem came in hit the ball - and screamed through for a single. The screams being for his back he had just twisted. Inzi retired hurt for 1.
Sazz Khan came to the crease and looked solid in defence and ably backed up Barney.
Barney passed the 50 mark for the first time in a long time - before being caught behind for 53 of the bowling of Spalding.
Jeff Turnbull was next in - and looked good before being fingered by Honeyford for 16.
Billy Strange went out and came back after one ball run out. QUACK QUACK.
Usman Saleem returned to the middle hit a single and retired hurt again. A total of 2 not out for the day.
Craig Darling smacked a four and the innings ended with Craig 5 not out and Brian Brown 0 not out (the best kind of duck pond entry.)
Brian was overjoyed to hear that he entered the duck pond - off one ball - even more delighted when he found out Martin had called a 5 ball over.
Tea was had.
Baltic it was - and we all went out to field with 200 layers on and were still cold.
Billy Strange and Martin Honeyford opened the bowling.
Honeyford struck quickly picking up Butt LBW for 0.
Both bowled a tight spell before Martin got Beard LBW for 11.
Hutchison and Singh started to build a partnership.
Khan and Turnbull were brought into the attack.
Khan bowling well with Turnbull being a bit expensive in his first spell in a number of years.
Turnbull in his two over spell did pick up the wicket of Singh for 15 caught Khan.
Brian the destroyer Brown was brought into the attack and was right on the money from near enough the start.
Boyapati who was looking dangerous - went after Brown but was brilliantly caught in the deep by Jeff.
Mohammed was Broonies next victim - LBW for 6.
Khan then bowled Mehmood.
No 3 Hutchison was still at the crease on 37 - and still a dangerman - he tried one big hit too many when he skied a Khan ball into the wind - with Miller taking a great catch...
Brown bowled Malik for 0.
Then with the hailstones falling and Boroughmuir wanting to bat on - Strange took matters into his own hands. Sillar went LBW for 8 then 2 balls later Strange bowled Spalding for 0.
In the end a comfortable victory.
Carnegie look a better side batting first with no pressure than second.
Barney and Muzz's innings turned the game into Carnegies favour - before Khan unleashed late on.
Bowling wise Honeyford 2 for 8 was excellent - as was Strange 2 for 18, Khan also bowled well 2 for 18 while Brian Brown got the crucial wickets with 3 for 38.
A better than normal fielding performance.
No drops of note. Well we do credit Barney with 1 - but if he had taken it we would have been amazed as the batsman edged a full toss - and with the ball still on the way down when it reached the keeper it went through his hands....at great speed..
Man of the match went to Phil Daughtrey as his 53 turned the game Carnegies way.
Thanks for Coming - to Usman Saleem for his two innings of 1 retired hurt in each. Then he left the field after 25 overs.
All in all a good day for Dunf and Carnegie.
