Presidents Update - D&C CC

Dear friends

Thought it would be a good time for a wee update from myself with regards whats happening around the club. As we all know the season is now well underway and its pleasing to see that the 1st eleven are starting to show some form and collect some results. Likewise its even more pleasing to see the colts are taking an active part in the second eleven and taking wickets and scoring runs. Seeing the growth of youth and especially seeing the enjoyment on their faces, makes all the hard work and effort that the committee have put in this winter worthwhile. We have welcomed new members along the way, with the inclusion of Duncan and Leroy, while when not asleep on a saturday morning, Paddy has also been active! Its great to see new faces at the club and seeing them taking wickets for the first time also!

You would have noticed some new covers on the pitch now, as a result of a sponsorship deal that Nancy secured with Tesco, and we are proud to have NFU Mutual as our main sponsors going forwards with PCM Properties. I would personally like to thank them all for their ongoing support. There are still a few matchball to sponsor if anyone knows of people wishing to help us out this season too.

Looking forwards to the future and funds, Dave is running a race night in the coming weeks and I would urge everyone to get involved and help raise funds to keep our costs low. I for one cant make it so will support it with sponsoring a race, and im sure Dave would welcome raffle prizes and race sponsorship from all those attending or not. As well as club funds, you would have all noted the disrepair of the road leading to the club facilities. The cost of repair has come in at £6000 and all clubs within the sports club have been asked to help with fundraising for this too. When the time comes I would ask if we could show our support to these events too, and have a strong cricket presence at these events.

I want to also draw everyone to the code of conduct briefly and remind them of the following:

All Members and Guests of Dunfermline & Carnegie Cricket Club will: 
As ambassadors to the club, maintain the highest level of behaviour and conduct while at any Dunfermline & Carnegie CC activity.
Respect people of all ages, genders and race equally.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of cricket
Refrain from discouragement when not playing.
Be bound by the conduct set out in the players and junior section.

I would also remind people that smoking is forbidden around the pavillion, and only permitted in designated smoking areas such as the old pavillion. This includes away teams and I would like captains to advise them of this.

We have made a fantastic start to our season, and there are many things to be proud of. Wayne has done a fantastic job improving peoples games,and I would encourage more people to use his expertise on a wednesday. Likewise Nelly, Kev and H have been working hard to get the second team out and playing in the correct manner. Our vision of a family friendly club, where everyone feels welcome is coming together and you should all be proud of helping this atmosphere grow. Im hoping we can continue to grow and encourage new members along to both enjoy the cricket and want to stay and be part of our ongoing success. 

The new shirts are ordered and should arrive soon, and the committee are actively seeking ways to improve the club. There should be new signs soon at the ground proudly showing off our new badge and status too. As always folks, my e mail and ear is always open to any suggestions to make the club a better experience for everyone as well as any concerns you may have, even when im at sea! 

We have a meeting this week and I hope to give you an update of further ideas we have later in the season.
