Happy New Year from the President

08 Jan 2021

All

Happy new year everyone,

Was hoping to start 2021 in an upbeat mood but as the whole country is still in lockdown it's hard going.

With a vaccine now being rolled out, we are hopeful that this will boost our chances of having a season with more normality - but only time will tell. We are focused on planning for the forthcoming season and hope we start on time at the end of April /start of May.

After our AGM in December held threw zoom( 15 logged on ) the committee basically stayed the same with Bryan coming on to assist Nancy in her role at the club.

Steve, our head coach has many plans in place for starting indoor nets for all ages, but I think they will have to be put on hold for the time being. Steve will tell us all when we can start junior nets at Woodmill and when Senior training will start for us all to attend Cluny Clay's where I do hope you will all find time to attend.

The club remains in good health, player number wise and financially. However, that does not mean we can rest on our laurels. We seek as a committee to continue to invest in coaching, new equipment, and facilities at the club.

You all can play a role in the running of the club. This could be in the form of helping with coaching the younger members to the upkeep of the clubhouse/ground. If you are interested in helping out - get in touch and we will help you put your skills to good use.

We also need your subscriptions for us to continue to invest in the club going forward. I know it's a hard time for all - some more than others. Subscriptions keep the club alive. Without receiving Grant support last year from the Government the club would have recorded a large loss. We would like to thank those members who continued to contribute their subscriptions to the club as these are vital to keeping the club going. (Overheads didn't stop in the lockdown - with Insurance, Grass Cutting, Maintenance still costing the club money)

As you all may or may not be aware Tommy Gibson sadly passed away late last year which was a massive loss to the club and even more so to Nancy.

Tommy played for the Dunfermline for many years and was passionate about the game. He had been the President of the Dunfermline Cricket Club for many years before the merger with Carnegie.

As a fitting tribute to Tommy, the club would like to build and dedicate an electronic scoreboard in his memory.

A JustGiving page has been set up to raise the money for this project to go ahead. The link is below, if you haven't contributed please do it all helps.
