Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club News story

Jack Anderson

22 Aug 2020

We are sad to have heard of the passing of a well-respected and loved player Jack Anderson this week.

Jack Anderson played cricket over a time span of five decades at McKane Park.

He started playing for Carnegie at Pitreavie but his talents were soon spotted by the selectors at McKane Park and he was asked to play for the county side (Fifeshire) in the late 1950s and he soon established himself as a regular scorer of runs at that level. Jack stepped down to the second team in the 1970s and skippered it to the Forth Union title. He went on to play regularly until the late 1990s as the second string worked its way up the grades. He was also no member rugby player and was a stand-off for DRFC.

Jack was fondly remembered from cricket tours – where him and Jim Stark used to sneak away for “Tea and Scones”.
