Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club News story

Update from the president - Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club

07 May 2020

Hello and welcome to you all in these unprecedented times. I hope you are all well and safe.

We held our first "online" committee meeting on Tuesday and wanted to reach out and touch base with

you all and just to give you a an update on the club.

We had great plans for this season - which was meant to start last Saturday. We were delighted over

the winter to welcome Steve Rowley in as a coach which is something we have been missing over the

last two seasons. Steve has taken the indoor training which was well attended - and he has also been

working alongside Alan and Lindsay with the Juniors.

It is a massive shame that we did not get started at the weekend - and im sure we all missed the sound

of bat on leather on Saturday.

We do hope that we will get cricket started at Mckane very soon - but we have to wait for lockdown to be

relaxed by the Government and then for Cricket Scotland to give us the ok.

The ground is currently looking great - and Gareth along with support from Frank has been keeping the

ground and pavillion in top nick for the season.  The grass never stops growing!!

In the meantime can I ask you to keep in touch - whether it be Facebook/Twitter or even Email or text

my details are at the bottom of this email.

Please keep watching the websit/social media channels for details on when we may get up and running

this season and also for other club news. Below this email is a note from our treasurer - please read

this as it holds important information.

Hope to see you all very soon at mckane, in the mean time you can drop me an email at

marsusan@sky.com or text me 079543292352 if you want any more information.

Thanks

Martin honeyford

President

Dunfermline & Carnegie  Cricket Club

A little note from our treasurer:

As a club we are going through unprecedented times - and as such like any small business we need

income to pay our overheads. We appreicate at the moment we do not have any cricket to offer you -

but we do need to pay the bills. So if you can afford to do so could you please continue to pay your

subscriptions whether that be a lump sum payment or a monthly DD. We appreciate not all will be able

to afford this - but if you can please continue to support the club.

There are around 10 people who pay a monthly DD which is the easiest way to collect and monitor subs

so if you normally pay in a lump sum but dont wish to do so at the moment please consider setting up

a DD with your bank to pay over 12 months.

I know some people on this distribution list are cricket fans/supporters who dont play cricket - If you

would like to support the club and either give a donation - or pay for a Social Membership (£30) this

would be greatly appreciated. Details of our bank are below - if you could drop me an email at

davidjmiller74@gmail.com to confirm this would be appreciated. (Or reply to this email)

We have already paid out £3,500 in costs since the end of last season - of which none of this cost

is recoverable.

We are seeking financial support from government funding schemes - but we would really appreciate

the support of the membership. Collecting money of people has always been a challenge for clubs

and it shouldnt be we all know we pay to play in Scotland. At the moment we are asking you to pay

and potentially not play - but we as a committee would like to add that with member support we feel

we can come out of this all stronger - and we will continue to look to invest fund's into the club and

ground to enhance our members cricketing experience going forwards.

Thanks for your support.

David
